Social Action Funding Grants Available for Homeless Service Agencies

Social service agencies that provide homeless services and/or homeless prevention services are invited to apply to take advantage of up to $50,000 in Social Action Funding grants from the City of St. Petersburg. There will be $600,000 available for allocation this year, and contracts will cover the period of Oct. 1, 2021 – Sept. 30, 2022.

The application portal will be open May 19-July 5 and can be found at stpete.org/SocialActionFunding.

Priority is given to agencies that provide services for:

  • Homeless families with minor or dependent children
  • Unaccompanied youth
  • Individuals (who are most vulnerable)
  • Chronically homeless individuals and Veterans
  • Victims of domestic violence

Agencies can take advantage of grants between $10,000 and $50,000, depending upon eligibility and fund availability. Only one application per agency is permitted. However, an agency may submit additional applications for programs that provide any of the following critical services: storage units for personal items belonging to homeless individuals, call centers to assist persons with prevention of homelessness or to assist those who are already homeless, or discretionary funds for street outreach to homeless individuals and families. In Fiscal Year 2021, the City awarded $622,000 in Social Action Funding grants to 13 organizations in the community.
