Steve Harvey Admits He Used 'a Bad Choice of Words' During Heated Debate With Mo'Nique

It’s settled—Steve Harvey just needs to “slow down.”

Harvey recently invited Mo’Nique on his daytime talk show, Steve, to finally address the elephant in the room, comedian-to-comedian. Both held their ground, with Mo’Nique refusing to sacrifice her integrity for money, despite Harvey’s almost-pleading protests. Harvey’s argument was that she was essentially destroying her legacy with her actions, but Mo’Nique never backed down.

Following quite a bit of social media backlash, ranging from general critique to outright calling him a “coon,” Harvey is now backtracking. The 62-year-old actor has taken “full responsibility” for his comments.

“I’ve got to slow down when I’m talking,” Harvey recently told People at a Celebrity Family Feud event. “I can’t get into heated discussions, and I’ve got to just guard my words more carefully.”

Shortly after their original interview on Harvey’s talk show, Mo’Nique posted a biting video on Instagram, which compared Harvey to “Fiddler” from the 1977 television miniseries Roots.
