NLC’s City Inclusive Entrepreneurship (CIE) Network promotes equitable economic growth in cities by facilitating the adoption of inclusive policies, programs and practices that enhance opportunities for entrepreneurs. Each year, NLC works with cities to commit to one or more initiatives that will enable more inclusive economic growth and enhance economic mobility for underrepresented communities. These practices range from providing microlending funding to increasing equity in procurement.
Program participants work with NLC, policy experts, and their peers throughout the year to achieve a commitment in the following focus areas:
- Increasing access to contracting and procurement opportunities
- Expanding access to capital
- Boosting the resiliency of America’s small businesses through Community Navigator-style programs and strategic outreach
