Step Up for Students hiring Manager,Public Relations and Strategic Communications

This position is responsible for writing our human-interest stories, highlighting the true life turn-around experiences of the scholarship students and families as well as stories about the participating schools. These stories will tug on readers' heartstrings and show the real face of our students – and be a window into how our programs change lives. The stories will mainly be used to bolster awareness of our programs and successes, as well as to help with fundraising efforts. Stories will be published in the newsletter, annual report, blog, in thank you cards and more. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and strong storyteller, public relations specialist and/or newspaper reporter or editor with a softer edge. This role will also have a heavy emphasis on garnering earned media for billboards, bus benches, TV and radio space. It is vital that the applicant be a team player as this combined fast-paced department works extremely collaboratively with both marketing and advancement team members.
