Nominations Being Accepted for 2014 "Volunteers for Health Awards" Presented By The Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative (TBHC)

The Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative (TBHC) is currently seeking nominations for the 2014 “Volunteers for Health Recognition Awards”.  These annual awards recognize individuals who have made a significant impact upon the quality and availability of healthcare in the Tampa Bay area through volunteering, that is: “Serving in a way that improves the health, wellness, mobility, and/or independence of others”.   One individual from Hillsborough County and one individual from Pinellas County will be recognized and honored for their outstanding contributions as a volunteer in the field of healthcare/community health.  In addition, one youth volunteer (18 years of age and younger) from throughout the Tampa Bay area will also be recognized.

FAMU School of the Environment (SOE) Summer Camp Taking Applications

Each year the SOE hosts a three-week summer day camp for eighth through eleventh graders on environmental, marine and estuarine sciences.  The summer camp is sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).   Summer camp students enjoy hands on laboratory experiments, field trips, and seminars  given by professionals in the environmental science field.   The SOE Summer Camp will be held June 9-27, 2014, weekdays  from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the camp is free.   Applications can be

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Coach children in reading, writing, math, and other literacy-based skills • Hours; Tuesdays, and Thursdays 3:30 until 5:30pm • The Literacy/Math Coach will also act to enhance self-esteem and confidence in the child through patience and encouragement. Martin Luther King Jr. Neighborhood Family Center Driver/Child Development and Support Worker -Job Description - SUMMARY: This is part-time seasonal position (15 hours per week) functioning within established guidelines and procedures with the responsibility of performing various tasks in the operation of a 12 passenger van transporting children to and from approved locations, facilities and/or activities during the regular school calendar year. This is a non-exempt position in accordance with FLSA standards. Benefits: paid holidays in accordance with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Neighborhood Family Center policy. This position reports primarily to the Executive Director but may from time to time work under the supervision of the Child Development Program Coordinator as instructed by the Executive Director.
