Healthy Start Consultant Needed

The Parents As Teachers Plus (PAT+) home visiting program of the Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. is seeking temporary, part-time professional assistance from November 1, 2014, through October 31, 2015, to serve as a member of the local continuous quality improvement (CQI) team for the PAT+ program participation national collaborative.  The  individual will be responsible for participating in HV CoIIN web conferences and learning sessions as directed by FAHSC and PAT+; conducting and documenting Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles; reporting on these PDSA activities; and collecting and reporting HV CoIIN data as required.  It is expected that this part-time CQI team coordinator will have the primary responsibility for leading and carrying out the HV CoIIN activities and for the submission of deliverables including reporting, data submission, participating in learning seminars that will likely include travel.  Payment is based on contract required submission of deliverables.  Experience with data collection, reporting and CQI process required.  Interested applicants should send their resume and qualifications to Patti Nagel at: pnagel@healthystartpinellas.org

November 4, 2014 - Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc. is a non-profit organization that manages volunteers primarily 55+ Baby Boomers to meet the challenges of the community with services that offer mentoring, tutoring and companionship through customized training, support and recognition of our volunteers.  The Program Coordinator works with the Grandparent Mentoring program.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Coach, schedule and provide daily operational support to insure the satisfaction, success and retention of   Grandparent volunteers.
  • Maintain all volunteer program documentation, eligibility requirements, timesheets in accordance with contract, funding and program requirements. To conduct volunteer performance reviews. 
  • Conduct site quality assurance visits to evaluate delivery of high quality services and individual volunteer performance.
  • Develop volunteer training modules, conduct or coordinate in-service trainings related to the identified areas.
  • Maintain the volunteer database current and compile statistical information for required reports.  
  • Conduct presentations in order to recruit volunteers, market the organization and develop/identify future volunteer sites. 

 Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years experience in human service delivery with an elderly population; volunteer management or a combination of education and/or experience. Candidate must possess exemplary organizational skills; and attention to detail. Must pass Level II background and driver’s license screening.

2014 TBABJ Media Awards, Scholarship Deadlines Extended

The deadline to submit entries for the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists’ annual Griot Drum Awards contest has been EXTENDED to midnight, Friday, Oct. 17. Entries must submitted online at www.tbabj.com.   Print, broadcast and online media professionals of any ethnicity can enter the contest, which honors quality coverage of people of color in Tampa Bay. Journalists submitting entries do not have to be a member of TBABJ, a local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). The entry fee is $25 for non-TBABJ members and $20 for members.   Any individual or news organization in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties can enter materials published, broadcast or presented online between Jan. 1, 2013 and Dec. 31, 2013. There are 28 categories this year.   Award winners will be announced Thursday, Nov. 13, at TBABJ’s Ninth Annual Griot Drum Awards & Scholarship Banquet to be held at the Tampa Marriott Westshore.

October 6, 2014 - Responsibilities include assessing DUI offenders using standardized criteria to determine risk of reoffending and patterns of alcohol or other substance abuse; case management of multiple offenders and ignition interlock users.  All training will be provided.  Applicant will be obligated to meet minimum requirements as required by state licensure (listed below): Candidates must meet the following minimum standards:  Bachelor’s degree in human services or nursing and 4,000 hours of experience in mental health/rehabilitative direct client services or medical care specific to substance abuse.  A Master’s degree in human services, nursing or an M.D. may be substituted for 2,000 hours of experience.  Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) status, Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional (CCJAP) status, or 14,000 hours of experience in human services may be substituted for a degree not in human services, but shall not preclude the requirement of a Bachelor’s degree.
