Request for Proposals for Emergency Food and Shelter Program

Notice is hereby given that Hillsborough County and Pinellas County will receive funds for the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. EFSP funds are Federal Funds made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency- or FEMA. Local boards for both counties, representing local government entities, provider agencies, and funding bodies will determine how the funds are to be distributed among emergency food and shelter agencies in Hillsborough and Pinellas. The deadline for applications to be received both electronically and in hard copy is Friday, February 7th at noon for Pinellas applicants and Friday, February 14th at noon for Hillsborough applicants. Please make sure the application, budget, and all certifications and releases are included. Please note that a mandatory orientation will be offered for all new and returning applicants prior to submitting the forms. Two dates are available: Wednesday, January 15th from 10AM-12PM at the Juvenile Welfare Board in Pinellas or Thursday, January 16th from 9AM-11AM at United Way Suncoast in Hillsborough. All organizations planning to submit an application must send a representative to one of these meetings.

LEMA Construction Accepting Bids on Behalf of SPC's New Midtown Center

Bids are being accepted for 1) Structural Package One: Structural Concrete, Masonry, Metals and Elevator 2) MEP Package One: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Sprinkler  3) Site Package Two: Curbs, Stabilizing, Base, Pavement, Signing and Striping.  

Three (3) sets of sealed proposals along with checklist and proof of bonding capacity must be received by LEMA Construction at 10001 16th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33716, by 9:00am on the 23rd day of December 2013. Any bids received after the above date and time or delivered to a different address or location will not be considered. Only qualified subcontractor bid proposals will be reviewed. There will be a list of the minimum requirements posted on www.lemaconstruction.com and will be an integral part of the bid proposal packet. There will be a Beneficial Community Impact (BCI) goal of 30% or more included but not limited to SBE’s MBE’s & WBE’s participation.

LEMA Construction and St. Petersburg College will review bid proposals and select the subcontractor or vendor based on the combination of their BCI, Base Bid and overall bid proposal. The College is seeking to have the most positive impact possible on the local community.

Pinellas County Schools looks to hire college students for tutoring program

Pinellas County schools has developed a new plan that will allow college students with 60 credit hours to be hired in an effort to respond to a shortage of available teachers to fill Extended Learning Program positions. Students can be hired to work before school, after school, or at Saturday Extended Learning Programs as tutors assisting students with content previously introduced in the classroom during the regular school day.
