The Department of Accounting and Finance in the UAB School of Business seeks an Accounting Instructor.  Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses.  Specific teaching assignments include development, management and delivery of both traditional classroom courses and online accounting courses that require knowledge and experience in using the Blackboard Learning System. 
Applicants should: 

  • Possess a Master’s degree in Accounting and CPA license;
  • Have either higher education teaching experience or demonstrated work experience educating and/or training traditional college age students or young people, and specific expertise in creating and developing original course content for undergraduate students would be helpful

Registration Open: Statewide Certification Training for New Charter Schools

The registration site is now open for the Statewide Certification Training event for new charter schools opening in the 2013-14 school year. The purpose of the charter school certification training is to build the capacity and confidence of school leaders to lead professional development on the topics most essential to improving teaching as it relates to the teacher evaluation systems, and ultimately to improve student achievement. As part of this training, participants will receive power point presentations with detailed speaker notes, handouts and books to prepare them to turnkey the sessions with their staffs. Grant Opp for Non-Profit Organizations Working to Increase Healthcare Access for the Uninsured

Allegany Franciscan Ministries has a grant opportunity for nonprofit organizations working to increase healthcare access for the uninsured.  With enrollment for the Health Insurance Marketplace beginning October 1st, Allegany Franciscan Ministries is interested in supporting nonprofit organizations that are involved in Marketplace outreach and enrollment activities.  In addition, we are interested in supporting efforts to educate the community about Medicaid coverage and expansion opportunities.  We encourage those organizations that are otherwise eligible for our Tau grants (see below) and that are working to assist their clients/community members with information and/or enrollment, to consider submitting a Tau grant application specifically for this purpose.  Grants would support activities such as, but not limited to: training for certified application counselors or navigators, outreach to specific populations about eligibility and the application process, or supplies/technology needed by enrollment helpers.   These health insurance coverage-related projects will be a priority for our fall Tau grant cycle (deadline to apply, 12 noon October 17th.).  Additional guidelines and eligibility for Tau grants can be found on our web site, www.afmfl.org.   FMI:  Tampa Bay (Hillsborough/Pinellas counties) Jessica Gonzalez (727) 507-9668 or jgonzalez@afmfl.org
