Mainsail Art Festival Applicants

The 41st Annual Mainsail Art Festival will be held in St. Petersburg’s waterfront Vinoy Park on April 16 and 17, 2016. Artists can submit in 13 categories including Ceramics, Digital Art, Fibers, Glass, Graphics, Jewelry, Metal, Mixed Media, Oil/Acrylic, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor and Wood. The artist jury fee is $35 and exhibitor space fee is $325. Cash awards totaling $60,000 feature the $10,000 Best of Show Gold Award, the $5,000 Mainsail Silver Award and two Mainsail Bronze Awards of $2,500 each. The show judge also will select 10 awards of excellence at $1,500 each; 15 awards of distinction, $1,000 each; 20 awards of merit, $500 each. The show also features Purchase Awards of $200 each, where local businesses or individuals select an artist and purchase of a piece of their artwork. Read more here.

City Seeks Qualified Firms for Education, Entrepreneurial-Workforce And Enrichment Second Chances Training Programs

August 22, 2016 – The city of St. Petersburg is moving forward with efforts to invest in the growth and success of South St. Petersburg – focusing on two invaluable assets, our residents and our businesses. City officials are seeking proposals from entities or individuals who can create and implement three new initiatives including educational training, entrepreneurship-workforce programs and enrichment training opportunities for African American males. 

In conjunction with the mayor’s new Cohort of Champions Initiative, under the My Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper umbrella of programs, this is the next step in providing opportunities; preparing our African American boys and young men for the future; and developing a trained, qualified and ready workforce necessary for businesses, industry and employers to succeed.  

The city invites qualified firms to submit proposals for the Cohort of Champions Initiative – to include the development of Educational, Entrepreneurial and Enrichment Second Chances Training Programs for African American males. 

Organizations or individuals who can develop and provide such programs are encouraged to attend a Pre-Proposal Conference for RPF-6180 on Tuesday, August 30, at 5:30 p.m. at the Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Avenue South.  Interested parties can register online at http://www.stpete.org/with_the_city/city_supplier_starter_guide.php
